This week we are delighted to wish Hamish Swan Happy 90th Birthday.
An Honorary Fellow of The Marketing Society Hamish first joined as a member in the early sixties.
He started his marketing career as an Assistant Brand Manager at the Beecham Group before joining Dorland Advertising in London. He joined Bass Charrington as Marketing Manager in 1969.
Hamish was appointed the first main board Marketing Director at Tennent Caledonian Breweries in 1972 before going on to become Managing Director in 1976.
He joined the Bass PLC board in 1985 and was Vice Chair of Holiday Inn Worldwide based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA from 1989 before retiring in 1994.
As one of the first CMO to CEO stories and an inspiration to many who worked at Tennent’s and their agencies, we were delighted to recognise his contribution to our profession with an Honorary Fellowship in 2022. Watch his video accepting this accolade, below.
