Fellows interview with Vicki Miller

We are delighted to bring you a Fellow interview with Vicki Miller, who was honoured as a Fellow of The Marketing Society 2024.

What’s your golden rule - at work and in life?

Always try to see things from the other persons point of view and treat others as you would like to be treated.  

Who (or what) has been your biggest influence?

My children without a doubt.  Seeing things through their eyes gives me new perspective.  As a parent you strive to give your children new experiences and lead by example – that has always driven me to try new things and show them that you need to work hard for the things you want to achieve in life.

What is your most hated business expression?

“new normal”  something we all started to over use after Covid, the reality of course is we live in a world that is constantly changing and there is no such thing!

What is the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

In my experience any business ideas come from a collective -  anything that starts as a new insight or thought will always be enriched and developed by involving others

Why is being part of the Marketing Society important for your career?

The Marketing Society provides an incredible networking platform to learn from others, to share and gain new insight but what it also does is highlight the many career opportunities that exist in all the organisations that are part of the society and has given profile to the important role marketers and marketing departments play in any organisation.  They are not just the creative engine rooms but the strategic too and more often than not shape the culture of organisations, driving forward new initiatives aligned to data & insight that drives improvement and growth in organisation performance.  

Tell us something that isn't on your CV

I love to travel and its always top of my non work to do list….planning the next trip with friends or family.  It really is the antidote to good health and wellbeing!
