The Creative Economy

by Keli Mitchell, Joint MD at Frame and Marketing Society Scotland Fellowship Chair

Dear Members

It still feels a little odd to begin every note with ‘I hope you’re staying safe out there’ but, I really do.

As I write this from my home office, my daughter is next to me working her way through some long division.

Her day already appears way more challenging than mine.

Facing challenges and working stuff out as we go has always been a big part of what we do as marketers… and in the current climate, we need creativity and innovative thinking more than ever.

Our industry will continue to play an important, if not critical part in the re-building of the Scottish economy. This thought alone gives me both hope and optimism for our future.

Please allow me to attach a speech delivered at The Glasgow School of Art by Andy Haldane, The Bank of England’s Chief Economist.

More than once in the last 18months I’ve gone back to it in a bid to re-invigorate my thinking and remind myself why we all do what we do…and how important our industry continues to be.

I hope you can all find 30 minutes over a cuppa to read it. It’s brilliant.

Best wishes (and stay safe).
