What’s your golden rule?

Always be curious about the world around you!

Who has been your biggest influence?

My wife, Mel, because she has always been so supportive and sensible!

What is your most hated business expression?

Please keep me in the loop. Always sounds a bit condescending!

What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

Getting my first book published in the area of mental health! Why? Because it changed the direction of my career.

Which leader do you admire most and why?

Gareth Southgate. He achieved great things with English football whilst always remaining true to his own core values as a decent human being.

What keeps you up at night as a marketing leader?

Wondering whether I can still have a positive impact on society in some small way.

Why is being part of The Marketing Society important for your career?

It will give me continual access to inspiring people and inspiring ideas.

Why does marketing matter to you?

It forces me to continually ask myself what the customer needs and challenge me to pinpoint exactly where I can add value.

Tell us something that’s not on your CV

I have become fanatical around gardening! Help!
