Q&A with Fereshteh Forough

Founder and CEO, Code to Inspire

Ahead of our New York Braver Conference we spoke to one of our speakers, the Founder and CEO of Code to Inspire.

How can marketers be braver?

To be braver it means to explore new ideas and be innovative, this included to give a chance to the people who have been deprived to practice winning which means supporting diversity.

What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

To establish a model that has never been implemented in Afghanistan which is opening the first computer coding school for girls learn to code that leads them to do online remote work and be financially independent.

Which business leader do you admire most and why?

I admire my mother as she became an entrepreneur when we were refugees in Iran. She learnt how to stitch and make dresses to sell and buy us school supplies. She learned how to use the best out of the least and her motive of starting from nothing leading to empowering herself and the family.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

I love poetry and specially from Rumi, an influential Persian poet. This is some of the best advice I have ever received: “Where there is ruin, there is hope for a treasure.” to me it means from a shattered nation and shattered lives of refugees, can come treasure if we know where to find it.

Fereshteh is speaking at our Braver Conference in New York this 14 November 2018. To find out more about this event head here.
