James is a principal and leads engineering teams on projects across all sectors, working closely with the architects to design sustainable buildings.
He ensures that buildings work as passively as possible, questioning why plant and equipment is required before designing it in. He is an advocate of the Soft Landings process and enjoys collaborating with designers, contractors and end users to ensure sustainable and cost effective environmental design strategies are adopted.
James has led the engineering on cutting edge sustainable exemplars such as the Enterprise Centre at the University of East Anglia, Harris Sutton Academy and University College London’s Student Centre.
For the NHS Nightingale London project, James led a BDP team of Architects and Engineers working collaboratively with project stakeholders, other consultants, specialists, contractors and the army to deliver the first 500 beds in just 9 days.
