Fellows Interview with Vikram Krishna

Vikram Krishna

We are delighted to bring you a Fellows Interview with Vikram Krishna, Co-Founder, Sacred Groves

The Marketing Society Fellowship is our highest and most prestigious accolade awarded to outstanding marketing leaders who have achieved significant success in the markets they’ve worked in and made an active contribution to The Marketing Society and our industry more broadly.

What’s your golden rule?

Leave behind better for generations to come.

Who has been your biggest influence?

My parents! At 74, my mom began painting, now 77, her art is gracing shows. At 85, my dad wrote his first book on AI and the UN-SDGs, thats been recently published. Their boundless curiosity for discovery inspires me to embrace creativity with a fearless passion and conviction. I am constantly seeking better.

What is your most hated business expression?

"Let's take this offline"! Another one is - "I'm passionate about ESG".

What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

It started with a question that wouldn’t leave me alone: What if business could heal, not harm?

Imagine an economic model that restores rivers, forests, and wildlife, that creates thriving communities while still driving prosperity. A model where we build businesses, products, and ideas that grow value and vitality in equal measure. In this vision, conservation and creativity are the currency, and nature is the ultimate shareholder.

That’s the ambition behind The Sacred Groves, to prove that business can be a force for regeneration, not just extraction. To inspire companies and individuals to see profit and planet not as trade-offs, but as partners.

Time will tell whether it is a utopian dream, or my smartest idea yet!

Which leader do you admire most and why?

Yvon Chouinard, the founder of my favourite brand, Patagonia. He inspired me to believe that making nature the ultimate shareholder isn’t just good ethics — it’s great business.
His philosophy continues to guide how I think about leadership, value, and impact. The goal is simple yet profound: To build an economy that lives in harmony with nature.

What is on your mind the most right now as a marketing leader?

To evolve brand and product experiences that advance the rising tide of conscious consumerism. Marketing has the power to do more than sell — it can influence how the world feels, chooses, and believes.

What drives me is the idea of inspiring people to make more mindful choices, and to experience the reality that the joys of living can truly thrive in harmony with nature.

Why is being part of The Marketing Society important for your career?

The Marketing Society is an inspiring network of like-minded professionals — passionate about learning, innovating, and refining the craft of building winning brands and experiences.
I’ve gained immensely from every interaction with this community. The exchange of ideas, experiences, and perspectives constantly pushes me to think differently and elevate my work. Every time I engage with the Society, my shopping cart of ideas overflows!

Why does marketing matter to you?

Marketing has the power to influence and inspire people at scale. Its also a lot of fun!

What do you think the biggest challenge in marketing will be in 2026

Relevance (why should you matter?) and Trust (why should I believe you?)

Tell us something that’s not on your CV

I am a wannabe master chef much to my family's amusement :)
