Emmet O'Sullivan is a senior at Regis High School in Manhattan. Diagnosed with type one diabetes (T1D) at 13, he is a prolific advocate for the T1D community. The author of the Amazon best-selling children's book “Drew Discovers Diabetes,” Emmet is partnering with organizations to create awareness of T1D and empower others living with the disease. His latest creation, PolicyPlayground.org, goes beyond diabetes to healthcare policy broadly. This tool uses AI to simplify how we learn about the healthcare bills before Congress and write our legislators–all in minutes. In November, Emmet will be honored by the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation with the 2024 Perseverance Award.
