In 2019, Tesco were celebrating their 100th birthday which provided an opportunity to re-assert great value; a metric that had been declining over time.
We partnered with ITV and Thames TV to bring back the much-loved 90’s game show, Supermarket Sweep.
ITV2 agreed to air the show at 8pm weekdays and Tesco helped build the set in Maidstone studios, with the visual cues from a real Tesco store such as font, colours and product, as well as creating idents and reactive social content.
The show itself was ITV2’s most successful launch in four years, gained a huge amount of PR coverage and was able to boost the YouGov value perception metric to its highest level in over five years. As a result, we brought back the show for a second series.
In 2020, we went even further by working with ITV to move the show from ITV2 to main channel – the first time this has been done for an AFP - and agreed to air six additional celebrity specials.
