The snowball effect

Joss Davidge, Business Director of brand experience agency BEcause, continues his weekly search for innovative marketing ideas.

This week he looks at how Neutrogena encouraged Parisians to “love winter”.

We all love simple pleasures and I think that snowball fights fall into that category.  Being able to release your inner child and attempt to annihilate a worthy opponent will undoubtedly bring a smile to your face.

To capture a bit of that childlike excitement, celebrate its 40th anniversary and encourage people to love winter, a message that is consistently associated with Neutrogena’s Norwegian Formula range, the skin-care brand facilitated a giant snowball fight in Paris.
This is a great way to bring people together and give them something to share.  Events like this act as social currency with participants and onlookers quick to share their experience, images and comments on social networking sites, spreading the core message beyond the cold and damp aftermath of the well-fought snowball fight.
