JEFFERSON: Turning Japanese

Turning Japanese

The Japanese think,
That Westerners,
Do Not Understand,
The concept of,
Wabi-sabi.

Its celebration of,
The beauty,

Of imperfection.

Of frayed edges,
Cracks and glitches,
Dropped stitches.

The delight,
In the marks left behind,
By use;
The stories in the scars,
And the passage of time.

I think,
The Japanese are wrong.

We do understand Wabi-sabi.
We just call it,

Working in corporate marketing.
