On Valentine’s Day, Adidas posted a photo of a same-sex female couple’s legs and feet sporting a pair of matching shoes on its Instagram along with the caption “The love you take is equal to the love you make”
Hours later, the photo had racked up a number of homophobic comments.
One commentator wrote: “WTF ADIDAS???? THIS DAY IS FOR BOY AND GIRL, WHEN THEY ARE COUPLE. NOT FOR LESBIANS, STUPID ADIDAS.”
But Adidas didn’t sit back while the nasty comments rolled in. The athletic brand’s social media team responded with: “No, this day is for LOVE. Happy Valentine’s Day” with a kiss emoji.
And after one user said “Shame on you Adidas !!!! I’m going to Nike now,” Adidas replied with both the hand-waving emoji and the kiss-emoji, according to Business Insider.
