Interview with Alex Malouf

Interview with Alex Malouf
This week we meet Alex Malouf, Corporate Communications and Reputation Manager, Procter & Gamble.

What’s your golden rule?
Never give up. In emerging markets such as the Middle East there are so many challenges, due to anything from a lack of understanding, bureaucracy or cultural differences. Even if one fails, the learnings and experiences gained along the way will set the stage for future success

Who has been your biggest influence?
My father. While he was in a different field to me, he taught me dozens of invaluable life lessons which remain with me today.

What is your most hated business expression?
I’ll give you two. “Let’s synergize” and “let’s align” are often used as a means to avoid responsibility or sidestep making a decision.

What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

Which leader do you admire most and why?
There’s many but Richard Branson comes to mind. He’s not let anything hold him back, including his dyslexia, and he’s built what for me is an iconic brand. He’s an amazing communicator and he always seems to have so much fun.

What’s your favourite word?
Opportunity.

Tell us a secret...
Sure, but don’t tell my wife. Living in the Middle East, being a Brit and yet with an affinity for language (and for following the local politics) I’m often asked if I’m a spy. Of course I couldn’t possibility comment…
