Best bar for celebrating?
If you want to go to a bar that the tourists don't know about (yet) you need to visit Bramble - a basement cocktail bar that's cool, understated and does a mean French 75.
Best bar for a business drink?
Indigo Yard is a relaxed, fun bar that always has a mixed crowd - young and old, suits and non-suits. After work drinks on a Friday are popular as there's usually live music and they are big on craft beers like Innis & Gunn, Brewdog and Harviestoun.
Best restaurant for business lunch?
Located on George Street, Contini's is a bustling Georgian hall Italian restaurant run by husband and wife team Victor and Carina Contini. They serve simple, fresh, seasonal lunch each and every day and it's a popular haunt for many who work in the city. Book in advance and request one of the comfy grey booths by the window.
Best way to spend an hour in-between meetings?
Go to the National Gallery of Scotland on the Mound. The last exhibition I saw was David Bailey's Stardust.
Best restaurant for dinner?
Seafood restaurant Ondine is run by award-winning chef Roy Brett who in his previous life worked with Rick Stein. The food, wine, service and atmosphere are all first class. It's good for celeb spotting too - Martin Freeman was there last time I was in!
If you only have time to one thing in my city, then do this...
Take a wander up Calton Hill for some of the best views of the city. Home to the National Monument, Robert Burns Monument and the City Observatory, there’s also a pop up art gallery to visit too. Or, if gin is your thing, take the Edinburgh Gin Distillery Tour in one of Edinburgh’s coolest new bars – Heads and Tails.
