To mark our launch in New York this week, we interview our New York Vice-Chair Francesco Rulli, President at Querlo on Judo and competing with YouTube.
What’s your golden rule?
If you are the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room! Be sincerely interested in others and learn from them. Curiosity is the holy grail!
What is your most hated business expression?
"I must check with….”. I like decision makers that can act promptly with enthusiasm or criticize constructively. Time is the most important asset we have, we can’t buy back a single minute in our lives. Procrastinating kills me!
How can marketers be braver?
The should select a small team of decision makers within their company, this will allow them to pivot very fast in case of failure, allowing to take risks and learn from mistakes at a much faster pace.
What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?
Launch an online film distribution platform in 2005 at the same time as YouTube, create our own player and ad server when everybody else used third-party technologies. It was also the most successful venture I ever executed.
Which leader do you admire most and why?
My father, he is my mentor, my judo coach, my skipper, he is now taking care of my mother who has Parkinson’s. An exceptional optimistic man and role model.
What’s your favourite word?
Fantastic!
Tell us a secret?
I approach important meetings and presentations in the same way I prepare for a Judo competition.
Tell us what excites you most about the Society?
The friends I made, their sincere advice and mentorship, their diversity and the Society's global footprint. I can travel the World and know that smart caring people are there for me.
Tell us about our New York launch?
I lived in Manhattan for 26 years, I am a New Yorker. New York is the the capital of the World, culturally and economically. The Marketing Society is the most diverse and global Marketing Organization, this is a perfect fit with New York. We have a team of very driven senior marketing executives willing to dedicate their precious time to the Marketing Society because the values of this society align with their objectives in life.
