Septime Webre

Septime Webre is an internationally recognised ballet director, choreographer, educator, and advocate. He has served as Artistic Director of Hong Kong Ballet since July 2017, following 17 years leading The Washington Ballet, where he significantly expanded the institution and founded impactful artistic and community initiatives. A prolific choreographer, his works are performed by major ballet companies globally. At HKB, he has enriched the Company’s repertoire and created acclaimed productions including Romeo+Juliet and The Nutcracker: A Hong Kong Adventure, both reimagined through Hong Kong’s cultural lens. The Nutcracker was honoured with UNESCO’s Star of Outstanding Award. In recent years, he has also brought HKB’s productions to major cultural cities such as Beijing, New York, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and London, positioning HKB as a dynamic cultural ambassador for the city.
