A recognised Fellow of the Marketing Society, Richard Simpson is an influential leader in the Scottish marketing community and a seasoned and dynamic public speaker.

His career highlights include launching high-impact campaigns such as the People Make Glasgow city brand, Scottish Rugby’s groundbreaking digital match-day experience, and a pan-European campaign for Toshiba.

With a BA Honours in Marketing Management from Edinburgh Napier University he is also a graduate of the FWB and the University of Edinburgh Business School Non-Executive Director Programme.

Starting his career in advertising sales at the Independent News and Media Group, Richard realised his vision of joining a creative agency, moving from Elmwood to Tayburn in 2008 as Head of Business Development. 

In 2010, he joined the board, and in 2014, led a management buyout to become Joint Managing Director. Under his stewardship, Tayburn has grown exponentially and enjoyed recognition as a top five UK agency for both creativity and effectiveness. 

Richard is also Chair of WeDO Scotland and draws on values of kindness and courage to mentor emerging leaders. 

Beyond his work life, Richard is equally driven by a passion for holistic fitness and community. His enthusiasm for CrossFit enables him to enjoy an array of physical challenges like trail running, stone lifting, hybrid fitness events and exploring Scotland’s mountains.
