This week we meet the CEO of JTF Marketing

This week we meet the CEO of JTF Marketing, the aptly named James T. Fletcher.

What’s your golden rule?

I guess it’s more of a saying “what does the data say?”. Being a Marketing Technology (MarTech) geek I believe the data before the opinion and if we’ve no data, we can’t make opinions!

Who has been your biggest influence?

Jonathan Walker

He was a mentor of mine at a SaaS business when I first started in marketing, and I was gobsmacked at how he knew EVERYTHING about business. To this day he’s still the guy I call when things get tough, or I need the honest truth!

What is your most hated business expression?

There are so many… if I had to choose “nice to e-meet you”.

How can marketers be braver?

By understanding how technology can enable them, and pushing their companies to take risks and not be so square by using use cases and best practice.

What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

Quitting my Marketing Director job with no plans at all. I then stumbled around for a few years trying to find what I was actually good at, to find that MarTech consulting was my thing. I was able to speak business language that helped C-level understand the technology and its capabilities.

Which leader do you admire most and why?

Abigail Johnson, CEO of Fidelity Investments. I’ve unfortunately never met her, but I’ve worked with her teams for numerous years and what I know (second hand) is that they’re empowered to innovate and evolve. Their dedication to the customer’s experience is like no other business I’ve worked with.

What’s your favourite word?

Absolutely.

Tell us a secret?

I can’t. It wouldn’t be a secret then!
