Lydia Amoah is a cultural economist, strategist and award-winning founder of The Black Pound Report, the UK’s leading study into the economic power of Black, Asian and Multi Ethnic consumers.

She is the CEO of Backlight, a multi-award-winning research and insights agency that helps brands, institutions, and leaders unlock untapped growth by transforming cultural insights into commercial strategy. Her work has supported organisations including News UK, Channel 4, Capita, Ofcom, Hearst UK, Adwanted Events, Mail Metro Media, and IPA, enabling them to connect authentically with high-value audiences and deliver measurable results.

The Black Pound Report has influenced national campaigns and strategic partnerships, including a £1 million collaboration between Channel 4 and Lloyds Bank to support Black entrepreneurs. Lydia’s insights also informed the creation of Hearst UK’s Black Beauty Hub and its national outdoor campaign. She equips businesses with the data and clarity needed to lead inclusively and grow sustainably.

In addition to strategy, she delivers keynote talks and executive coaching. She has spoken at Microsoft's event at Cannes Lions, HSBC’s Black Female Founders event, Advertising Week, and more.
