We are delighted to bring you a Member Interview with Lucas Stamm, Marketing Manager at O Beach Dubai
What’s your golden rule?
Definitely always start with "why". As marketers we should understand the deeper purpose behind any marketing communication and ensure there's coherence and meaningful connections among initiatives.
Who has been your biggest influence?
Steve Jobs, for his ability to merge technology and innovation with human emotion. He created not just products, but experiences that transform lives. His approach to marketing as storytelling that focuses on the key benefits rather than simply product features continues to influence my work.
What is your most hated business expression?
The classic "think outside the box". it's become a cliché that oversimplifies the creative process. Another one is "strategy", when 99% of the times it's said there's no strategy or it lacks a clear understanding of strategy and principles, simply disconnected tactics.
What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?
Launching a marketplace for pets in 2020, and today there are so many popping up and luxury brands jumping on it.
Which leader do you admire most and why?
Bob Iger, for his ability to blend creativity with strategic vision. Under his leadership, Disney transformed through major acquisitions (Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars) while maintaining its core values and storytelling heritage. His approach to embracing innovation while maintaining the essence and brand authenticity of other brands is amazing.
What is on your mind the most right now as a marketing leader?
The fast pace of tech change and its impact on consumer behavior and consequently in MarTech. Staying ahead of these shifts while maintaining authentic human connections is both challenging and exciting
Why is being part of The Marketing Society important for your career?
It provides access to a community of forward-thinking marketers who shape industry trends. I value the opportunity to learn from diverse perspectives and contribute to meaningful discussions about marketing's future. I love a conversation so it's a great opportunity to create more with others.
Why does marketing matter to you?
For me marketing is the bridge between innovation, art, science and human experiences. It's not just about promoting products, it's about understanding human needs, creating solutions that genuinely improve lives.
Tell us something that’s not on your CV
I love discussing and exploring unconventional ideas, and I'm also enthusiastic about understanding human behavior and psychology. I spend a lot of my free time reading psychology books and playing board games to better understand decision-making patterns and group dynamics. I also spend a good amount of time decorating my house and doing art.
