Member interview with Jessie Paul

We are delighted to bring you a Member Interview with Jessie Paul, CEO & Founder, Paul Writer

What’s your golden rule?

Control your variables. When planning anything look at potential roadblocks and see whether you can reposition them from being a variable to something you can control.

Who has been your biggest influence?

Nandan Nilekani one of the co-founders of Infosys. He helped me move from chaos to being way more organised.

What is your most hated business expression?

"Gotta eat your own dog food". I had a boss who loved using it and every time he did I could just smell the dog food and feel sick.

What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

To be an entrepreneur!

Which leader do you admire most and why?

David Ogilvy. My first job was with Ogilvy Advertising.

What keeps you up at night as a marketing leader?

Keeping myself relevant in the Age of AI.

Why is being part of The Marketing Society important for your career?

Helps me to stay current with the rapid changes in marketing. I get to meet other influential marketers and engage in a diverse range of topics.

Why does marketing matter to you?

I strongly believe that a great product is just a mousetrap without cheese. Marketing helps match client needs with solutions. I trained as an engineer and fell in love with marketing at the age of 22 while at my first technical job. Never looked back! I have since written two books on marketing - Marketing Without Money and No Money Marketing. I write a weekly newsletter which has crossed 500 issues!

Tell us something that’s not on your CV
