Member Interview with Doruk Alptekin

We are delighted to bring you a Member Interview with Doruk Alptekin, Head of Revenue Growth Management, Gulf Coca-Cola Beverages

What’s your golden rule?

Always bridge the gap between the value and price of a brand. My golden rule is to ensure that every branding effort not only tells a compelling story but also drives tangible growth. It's about creating strategies where creativity meets commercial success

Who has been your biggest influence?

I think my dad had the biggest influence on who I am today. He's always pushed me to stay curious, ask and keep asking questions More importantly, he encouraged me to find the answers myself, fostering a sense of self-sufficiency that's shaped how I tackle challenges in both life and work.

What is your most hated business expression?

‘Let's do more with less.’ While efficiency is important, this phrase often translates to unrealistic expectations without proper support. Sustainable growth comes from smart investments, not just stretching resources thin.

What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

I believe an idea only proves its worth when it comes to life. Since none have jumped off the drawing board yet, I'll wait to choose the smartest one until it actually happens.

Which leader do you admire most and why?

While I can't single out just one leader, I deeply admire those who lead with a blend of empathy, inspiration, and a genuine sense of fun.

What keeps you up at night as a marketing leader?

After 15 years in brand marketing and my recent role in Revenue Growth, I often find myself navigating the tightrope between brand messaging that resonate and strategies that deliver tangible results. It's like playing a game of chess where the board keeps shifting—consumer behaviors evolve, new technologies emerge, and competitors make bold moves. It's that blend of creativity and analytics that makes this game of chess such a thrilling one.

Why is being part of The Marketing Society important for your career?

It’s like having a backstage pass to the minds and network of smart, experienced people. I am relatively new to the region, hence I want to benefit from the exchange of ideas and experiences to grow.

Why does marketing matter to you?

Marketing is the biggest enabler to extract more value. It is storytelling with purpose. It’s not just about selling a product—it’s about creating connections, shifting perceptions, and sometimes even driving cultural change. It matters because it has the power to influence how people think, feel, and act.
