What is your most hated business expression?

We can't

 

What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

Launching an independent digital agency in 2011

 

Which leader do you admire most and why?

Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid for his vision of Dubai in the late 80's, and the flawless execution of his plan with zero time, energy, and resources wasted

 

What keeps you up at night as a marketing leader?

Regulations not catching up to the fast-paced advancement of technology, and not having the right thinkers, marketers, futurists, and technologists as part of regulatory committees. Instead, keeping it in the hands of only legislators who can't tell what's real and what's a reel.

 

Why is being part of TMS important for your career?

Connecting with like-minded individuals, learning from peers, and attending thought-provoking and eye-opening talks, panels, and chats.

 

Why does marketing matter to you?

Marketing is in everything. All humans are marketers and marketing every day, multiple times a day without knowing it. Marketing is how we persuade our children to eat healthy, convince ourselves to sleep early, to get the family to agree on where we should go on vacation. Marketing rules the world. No bill or law gets passed without the proper communication and propaganda. No product trends without a cult of influencers backing it up. No lame sports player is glorified without the ideal fashion sense or unique taste in something particular. Everything is marketing, and marketing rules everything.

 

Tell us something that’s not on your CV

In my three years at university, I produced and hosted a show 3 times a week on prime time television aimed at teens and the youth. The show revolved around entertainment, movies, music, technology, and partly a game show.

 


This year Bilal will be creating a new podcast series for The Marketing Society Podcast
