David is Head of Net Zero Innovation at EDF (UK) and has been at the forefront of developing solutions to the climate change crisis since joining EDF in 2004.
Over the years, he has held various roles within the organisation, including Head of Sustainability at EDF Energy UK and Chargé de Mission of Sustainability Development Policy and Governance at EDF France. His efforts at EDF France led to the company's inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series, a collection of socially responsible stock indexes.
David spent 10 years working in sustainability, covering sustainability and climate change strategy development, action plan development and delivery, reporting and culture change. He worked in the UK and France.
He spent a further 10 years working on innovation and R&D, including a move to China as the Head of Digital Innovation for EDF China. There he initiated research in quantum machine learning, developed AI tools, created EDF’s first mobile payment system, and explored emerging technologies.
David holds a BSc in Environmental Geosciences from the University of Sheffield and an MSc in Business and the Environment from Imperial College London. He has served as a visiting lecturer at notable universities and is an Advisory Board Member at the All-Party Parliamentary Group on AI.
Outside of work he loves climbing, surfing, cycling and skateboarding and has travelled to many strange corners of our beautiful planet.
