Alyssa Berggren

COO, G for Good

Alyssa Berggren is the Chief Operating Officer of G For Good and Senior Manager, Strategic Planning and Community Engagement of New World Development. Prior to her role in G For Good, Alyssa has accumulated over 8 years of experience in the management and strategic planning of local and international non-profit organizations and social enterprises, including Green Monday and UNICEF.

Alyssa’s expertise spans across fundraising, strategy development and implementation, impact measurement, organizational capacity and effectiveness, as well as donor and partner relationship management. Alyssa also has a strong global exposure, with her past and present charity projects covering Hong Kong, Malawi (Africa), Nepal, USA, and China.

Alyssa’s life experience has been her strongest motivator to devote her career in doing good and empowering women to pursue their dreams. Despite a difficult upbringing and a 6-year lower limb paralysis, Alyssa overcame both her environmental and physical hindrances with faith, and never gave up in pursuing her own dream. With her success in breaking through the obstacles, Alyssa is keen on extending the impact by empowering others to do the same.

Alyssa’s belief has inspired her to run an orphanage in Africa under extreme resources and environment for 2 years, in addition to co-found a charity (ChickenSoup Foundation) in Hong Kong to provide all-rounded services to more than 1600 underprivileged families. Throughout her journey in managing different organizations to make social impact, Alyssa has rich experience in Creating Shared Value (CSV) – to maintain the sweet spot between social impact and financial sustainability.
With her experience and expertise, Alyssa is currently incubating different social innovation projects with CSV elements and grooming a next generation of social innovators in her role as Chief Operating Officer of G For Good.

Alyssa received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Child Psychology at University of California – Berkeley, and will complete her Master of Business Administration at Harvard Business School in 2019.

Alyssa is also a speaker, judge and/or mentor for different organizations, including United Nations, Google, Facebook, Oxford University and University of Hong Kong.
