Jo is a technology and data protection lawyer at Scotland-headquartered UK law firm Burness Paull. She has over 10 years’ experience advising clients on implementation of new technologies, outsourcing of IT systems, IP licensing and the use of information and personal data. Jo specialises in providing clients across all sectors with strategic advice on the complex interactions between data protection and broader digital regulations concerning e-Privacy, direct marketing, online safety and AI. Jo has recently been involved in supporting clients with safe use of Generative AI systems, including risk assessments, policy work and delivery of training sessions, and she has also advised clients on monetising existing data and content for training AI models.
Jo is a Member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and she is a Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/E). She is also a member of the Law Society of Scotland Privacy Law Sub-Committee.
