Andy Fennell

Executive Chairman, Bloom

Andy Fennell joined Bloom in 2015 as Executive Chairman. In this capacity, he takes a lead role in looking after Bloom’s clients who include Avon, Britvic, Chewton Glenn, Danone, Diageo, Kerry Foods, Soho House, Twinings, and Unilever. Since his arrival, Bloom has doubled in size and has expanded to new geographies with the recent launch of its Singapore office.

Prior to Bloom, Andy spent 18 years with Diageo, rising to Chief Marketing Officer with global sales, marketing and innovation responsibilities. Andy subsequently became President of the Africa region, which during his tenure was the fastest growing Diageo region in the world. Diageo’s share price tripled in value while Andy was in Diageo.

Andy has repeatedly strived to create environments where brands and innovation can thrive. Among many examples, his teams invented the extra cold beer category, rolled out Smirnoff Ice to 76 countries, doubled Diageo’s global luxury business, and quadrupled the innovation contribution to sales in Africa in just two years. His brand teams have won thousands of creative awards and are regarded as pioneers in marketing techniques. Andy was the client on the Guinness commercial “Surfer” which has been voted the best advertisement of all time.

Andy has also served as Non-executive Director on the boards of East African Breweries Limited (EABL) and Guinness Nigeria PLC.

He has been a member of Facebook’s Client Council, a small, but select and influential group of agency & global client leaders who meet several times a year to give Facebook key input on advertising and marketing.

As well as his role at Bloom, Andy is also a Senior Advisor to McKinsey. He supports clients focusing on growing their top line in today’s changing environment in both developed and developing markets, with digital at the core of business and organizational change, and with counsel on the future of marketing.

Since 2017, Andy has been on the Advisory Board for Consumer Products with Turkish conglomerate giant Eczacıbaşı, which in 2017 had a combined net turnover of over US$11.6 billion.

To fuel Andy’s entrepreneurial & innovative passions he is also an early stage advisor and equity partner in five start-ups across New York and London.

After living in the US for a number of years he now resides in his home country, the UK.

Andy is married to his wife Ellie and has five children.
