Q&A with Joe Braithwaite

Joe joined Proximity London in 2018, having previously been General Manager at BBDO Singapore.

Joe started his career at Iris in London and was part of the team that opened the company in Singapore two years later, where he built regional brands including Visa and local brands such as Tiger Beer. Joe then took the opportunity to join BBDO, where he worked for over eight years, running two of the world’s most iconic brands, Gillette and Guinness.

What’s your golden rule?

If creativity is intelligence having fun, make sure you’re having fun.

Who has been your biggest influence?

My father the architect, the original combination of art and science. 

What is your most hated business expression?

How can marketers be braver?

Worry less about how to be right and worry more about how to be interesting.

What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

Moving to Singapore.

Which leader do you admire most and why?

Jed Bartlet from The West Wing. 

What’s your favourite word?

Equidistant.
