Managing Director at Clear Ideas gives us her tips on Beijing.

Best hotel for business?
Beijing traffic can be a nightmare so always stay as close to where you need to be, there is a plethora of choice within the 3rd ring road but Shangri La World Summit, Ritz Carlton Financial Street and Park Hyatt near Wangfujing are always a good choice.

Best hotel for pleasure?
The Opposite House – a SWIRE run design hotel in central Sanlitun.

Best bar for celebrating?
Janes and Hooch in Sanlitun district.

Best bar for a business drink?
Mei at the Rosewood Hotel.

Best restaurant for business lunch?
Capital M – views of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square with private rooms and outdoor terrace, this ticks all the boxes!

Best way to spend an hour in-between meetings?
Dash into the Forbidden City, grab a tour guide headset and explore at your own pace. Top tip – enter through the North entrance which is quieter and allows you to emerge into the grandiose Tiananmen Square at the end of your tour.

Best restaurant for dinner?
A fussy eater head to the hard to find but amazing location Temple restaurant for western food the adventurous can wander through the hutongs and sample local delights….. But either way a visit to a Beijing duck restaurant is a must. My favourite is Dadong which has various locations around the city.

If you only have time to one thing in my city, then do this...
Hire a driver for the morning (any hotel can arrange) and go out to Mutianyu to visit the Great Wall. Take the chairlift up, hike along the wall and release your inner child by taking the toboggan down! Takes around 3-4 hours so can be back in time for lunch!

If you are bringing family or staying longer highly recommend Bespoke Beijing – a team that can help you with everything for your stay, translate, book top restaurants organise cooking classes etc.
